Fernanda Ribeiro

Fernanda Ribeiro is since 1989 Professor at the Faculty of Arts of University of Oporto (Portugal). She got a graduation in History from the University of Porto in 1980 and a post-graduation in Library and Archival Studies from the University of Coimbra in 1982. In 1999, she got the PhD at the University of Porto with a dissertation entitled The Access to Information in Archives, under the supervision of Michael Cook. She has been the Head of the Department of Journalism and Communication Sciences (2010-2014) and director of the bachelor in Information Science (2003-2014). She's also scientific coordinator of the research centre CETAC.MEDIA (Centre of Studies in Communication Sciences and Techonologies). During the last 20 years she devoted her academic research to access and retrieval of information in archives, subject indexing and theory and methodology of Information Science as well as professional training in the same area.
