Elvira Immacolata Locuratolo

Elvira Immacolata Locuratolo graduated in Mathematics in 1978 at the University of Naples, carried out post-degree research at the “Istituto di Elaborazione dell’Informazione” of the National Research Council at Pisa (IEI-CNR). Since 1982, she has been a researcher at IEI-CNR and at the “Istituto di Scienze e Tecnologie dell’Informazione” of the National Research Council at Pisa (ISTI-CNR) Pisa. Her activity has been focused on algorithms of mappings from conceptual to logical database models, on model transformations, meta-modeling and on preservation of database concepts. Main scientific results can be found in publications on formal methods for conceptual database design, database re-engineering, approaches to data mining, semantics for image databases, ontology for database preservation. Among her collaborations with foreign institutions, those with the Rutherford Appleton Laboratory at Oxford, and with the Tampere University of Technology at Pori, Finland, are to be mentioned. She also carried out teaching activity in mathematics and computer science at the University of Pisa.
