Duane Aslett
Duane Aslett
earned his doctoral degree in law (LLD) from North-West University (NWU), South Africa, with a thesis on combating organized crime, and now serves as Associate Professor and Director of the Centre for Law and Justice at Charles Sturt University, Australia, where he coordinates the program with a focus on integrating practical and academic approaches to legal studies. His research interests include financial crime, corruption, money laundering, and organized crime. Dr Aslett’s extensive career includes roles as an Inspector in the South African Police Service, Senior Public Prosecutor in the National Prosecuting Authority of South Africa, forensic investigator at PricewaterhouseCoopers, and leadership positions at NWU, including Program Leader of Forensic Accountancy and Director of Strategy in the Office of the Vice-Chancellor. Dr Aslett also served as researcher on the State Capture Commission in South Africa. In his spare time, he writes crime fiction, publishing novels and short stories in Afrikaans.
