Debbie Diana Devonish

Debbie Devonish is an Associate Professor, and leading voice on the intersection of educational policy, pedagogical readiness, and emerging technologies within the Caribbean. She is the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Science & Sport at Utech, Jamaica. An experienced educator, Devonish is a trained teacher who holds an MPhil. in Entomology and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership with emphasis on professional Development for Science Educators. Devonish focuses on teacher agency and infrastructural preparedness in STEM fields. Her current research, including this critical IGI Global chapter, addresses a significant literature gap by proposing a contextually adapted professional development framework for GenAI integration among Science educators. Devonish’s primary research interests include: culturally authentic professional development, research methods, digital transformation, and policy development in resource-constrained educational environments. Her contributions offer practical guidelines for organizational structure and policy commitment, underscoring the imperative for deliberate action to drive national progress.
