Daniela Gifu
Daniela Gifu
is a PhD scientific researcher II at the Institute of Computer Science, Romanian Academy – Iasi Branch and at the Faculty of Computer Science “Alexandru Ioan Cuza” University of Iasi. In terms of research expertise, she has a significant experience in the field of computational linguistics, natural language processing, especially in text processing (topic identification, semantic annotation, epoch detection, diachrony, word sense disambiguation, name entity recognition – identification and classification, sentiment analysis, web of linked data, information retrieval) both in Romanian, English, and Italy. She also has experience in social media analysis (Twitter, YouTube, etc.) and language modelling. Since 2010, she has involved students from UAIC-FII in Corpus Linguistics and semantic evaluation challenges: SemEval. Their results are always in the first half of the competition ranking. So far she has been involved in 14 research projects on the European and national levels (6 international and 8 national) (e.g., CA18209_European network for Web-centred linguistic data science) and she has a well-established experience as a NLP member or project leader. With over 250 conferences talks and 250 publications, indexed in international databases - 72 papers in DBLP, 83 papers in SCOPUS, 58 papers in ISI Web of Knowledge, over 50 papers appeared in International Journals, a dozen papers in IEEE Computer Society, and LNCS/LNAI by Springer. Her h-indexes are 18 on Google Scholar, 9 on Scopus, 6 on Web of Science - she enjoys a constantly recognizable image in her professional field. More information:
