Daniel Morales-Doyle

Daniel Morales-Doyle is an Associate Professor of Science Education and the coordinator of the MEd Science Education program’s licensure strand at the University of Illinois Chicago (UIC). His research explores how science education can contribute to social change and foster alternative futures, focusing particularly on the sociopolitical dimensions of science curriculum, teaching, and teacher preparation. Before joining the faculty at UIC, he spent over a decade teaching high school science in the Chicago Public Schools. Morales-Doyle has led and contributed to several NSF-funded projects, including “Youth Participatory Science to Address Urban Heavy Metal Contamination” and “Science Education for Excellence & Equity in Chicago (Project SEEEC).” He was a 2020 National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation postdoctoral fellow and has published work in journals like Science Education, the Journal of Research in Science Teaching, Race & Ethnicity in Education, and Cognition & Instruction. Morales-Doyle earned his PhD in Curriculum Studies from the University of Illinois Chicago, an MS in Secondary Science Teaching from Northwestern University, and a BA in Chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley.
