Christos Xenakis

Dr. Christos Xenakis studied Physics at the University of Thessaloniki with a scholarship from the State Scholarships Foundation (I.K.Y.), followed by postgraduate studies in Science Education and a PhD in Physics. He has specialized in France (Paris-VI and Académie de Lyon) and in the UK (University of Southampton). He has taught Physics in Secondary Education, served as Principal of the 1st High School of Volos, School Advisor for Natural Sciences, and as a Member of the former Pedagogical Institute. He also worked as a Physics Teacher and Coordinator of the Natural Sciences Department at the European School of Brussels-III in Belgium. He has collaborated for many years with the National Hellenic Research Foundation as an External Researcher, taught at the University of Thessaly (Department of Mechanical Engineering), and at the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPETE). He has published numerous research papers in Greek and international journals, as well as books for students, university learners, and the general public. He is Vice President of the Board of the Hellenic Astronomical and Space Society and an active member of other scientific organizations such as A.E.D.E. (Association Européenne des Enseignants). He has been honored with the Silver ECU Medal by the Council of Europe for his contribution to education.
