Christina Bonarou

Dr. Christina Bonarou holds a PhD in Communication, Visual Culture, and Tourism from Panteion University of Social and Political Sciences in Athens, Greece. She is currently an adjunct professor at the University of the Aegean, teaching in the Postgraduate Program “Strategic Management of Tourist Destinations and Hospitality Enterprises,” as well as at the Hellenic Open University in the Undergraduate Program of “Tourism Management.” In addition, she works as a project manager for EU-funded projects, specializing in the coordination and implementation of initiatives in tourism, cultural heritage, and education. She earned her BA in Communication, Media, and Culture from Panteion University, where she also completed her MA in Cultural Policy, Management, and Communication. Additionally, she holds an MSc in Tourism Planning, Management, and Policy from the University of the Aegean. Her research interests and publications focus on visual culture, the sociology and anthropology of tourism, communication, cultural heritage, museums, special and alternative forms of tourism, and crisis management in the tourism and cultural sectors.
