Charles Westerberg

Charles Westerberg is the Brannon-Ballard Professor of Sociology at Beloit College. He spent 10 years as Associate Dean of the college at Beloit, where he supervised the career development and community-based learning offices. His scholarly work has had two major streams. The first is criminological themes, such as capital punishment and the use of private prisons. He has published work on how jurisdictions use capital punishment differently, and on the history and practice of a variety of private prison companies. The second prong of his research has focused on high-impact learning practices. He has published on community-based learning and the use of reflective practices in undergraduate education. In addition, he is a co-author of The Millennial Promise: Forty Tips from the Mindset List.
