Bridget Holyfield Moss

Bridget Holyfield-Moss is a highly experienced Licensed Professional Counselor and an esteemed Associate Professor in the Department of Counseling for the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Fort Valley State University, where she also co-advises the Zeta Upsilon Sigma Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota National Honor Society. She holds a Doctor of Education in Counselor Education and Supervision from Argosy University, as well as a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling and a Bachelor of Social Work from Fort Valley State University. With over 27 years of dedicated service, Dr. Moss has extensive experience working with children, adolescents, and their families dealing with severe emotional and behavioral disorders. Her specialized work includes counseling male juvenile sex offenders, and she is a certified Juvenile Sex Offender Counselor. Additionally, Dr. Moss is the CEO of Bridgestone Consulting Services, LLC, a clinical private practice in Macon, Georgia. Dr. Moss is an approved Clinical Supervisor in the State of Georgia and holds numerous professional credentials, including Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), Certified Professional Counselor Supervisor (CPCS), National Approved Clinical Supervisor (ACS), Certified Anger Management Specialist, Certified Prepare Enrich Facilitator, Clinical Trauma Professional, Trauma Focused-Cognitive Behavior Therapy Trained, and Seven Challenges Facilitator. Her dedication to the mental health field has earned her numerous accolades, including the Annual Banks/Pierro/Rutland/Bellamy Outstanding Alumni Award. Dr. Moss’s extensive counseling experience has equipped her with the skills to build bridges between communities and organizations, fostering better service for individuals from diverse cultural, social, and economic backgrounds. She remains a passionate advocate for children and families, committed to her mission of “Bridging the Gap to Empowerment.” She embraces the philosophy that “Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass; it’s about learning how to dance in the rain” — a quote by Vivian Green that resonates deeply with her approach to life and work. Dr. Moss is also an accomplished author. She co-authored the book “Intrafamilial Childhood Sexual Abuse: A Phenomenological Study of Counselors’ Experiences” and has contributed to several book chapters and journal articles. Her published works cover a range of topics, including mental health counseling in men, the resiliency of youth of color, and the impact of COVID-19 on African American students at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). In addition to her academic and professional roles, Dr. Moss is actively involved in several committees and subcommittees at Fort Valley State University. She is the immediate past co-chair of the homecoming committee and currently serves as the chair for commencement, the university's most prestigious ceremony of the academic year.
