Binod Anand
Binod Anand
is a seasoned Cooperator and serves as the Secretary General of the Confederation of NGOs of Rural India (CNRI), and Founder of World Cooperation Economic Forum and have addressed General assembly of the United nations during High level political forum and Summit to the Future on SDG issues. He is particularly working to achieve the SDG target and incubating the civil society to prepare themselves when the world is transforming itself to ESG from SDG. With these efforts Government of India have appointed in the Prime Minister Minimum Support prices and Agri Reform Committee to take his broader vision of making Agricultural value chain more farmer centric and transforming Indian economic reforms accordingly. He supports the idea that farmers' cooperatives can play a central role in rural development, providing a platform for collective bargaining, access to better resources, and market connections. Anand's approach aligns with principles of equitable growth, reducing economic inequality through collective ownership and shared prosperity. Binod Anand has engaged with the United Nations (UN) on matters of sustainability, particularly in agriculture. He has worked on global policies with a focus on sustainable agricultural practices, aiming to achieve goals like net-zero emissions by 2047 or 2070. Anand emphasizes the integration of local agricultural practices with global trends, recognizing the importance of community involvement in addressing environmental challenges. His advocacy includes promoting sustainable innovations such as biofuels and gender-specific agricultural tools. Additionally, Anand has participated in multilateral forums where he has pushed for cooperative economic frameworks to reduce inequality. His involvement also includes initiatives like creating sustainable frameworks for farming communities, which align with broader UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as Climate Action. Anand ‘s effort has also made him appointed as Expert Committee to review Kunming – Montreal Global Biodiversity framework, Multilateral protocol to create Community led, Other effective Conservation measures in India under Ministry of Environment, forest and Climate Change. These efforts are part of his vision to link local and global agricultural transformations. Binod works to integrate sustainability, advocating for reforms that help farmers adapt to global market dynamics while supporting local agricultural practices. By promoting cooperatives, Anand seeks to create a “solidarity economy,” where community-driven economic activities contribute to both local and global development.
