Asha Nimali Fernando
Ratugamage Asha Nimali Fernando
is a Professor in Philosophy at the Department of Philosophy and Psychology, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, Sri Lanka. As well she is working as a visiting professor in the Institute of Philosophy University of Friedrich–Alexander Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany. She holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, Germany, with a thesis on “Ethical Relativism and Ethical Absolutism.” She also earned three Master Degrees one from University of Mysore, India for philosophy she has done this master program under the Indo-cultural Exchange scholarship. The second master’s degree from the University of Pali and Buddhist Studies, Sri Lanka from Buddhist Philosophy. The third master’s degree is the Master of Human Rights from university of Colombo. Her BA (Hons) in Philosophy is from the University of Sri Jayewardenepura. She has published 5 books and more than 23 research articles for reputed international journals. As well she has contributed 8 chapters for different areas in philosophy and psychology. She was awarded 10 fellowships from philosophy and psychology departments in different universities in the world, like University of Aegon, Samos Greece, University of Oxford. United Kingdom. University of Leipzig, Germany, International Psychoanalytic University, Berlin, Germany. University of Padova, Italy, Indiana University, United States of America. As an Academic she has awarded 9 awards from international awards ceremonies, in the year of 2009 she got award from University of Mysore, India, the outstanding research award with SMT. C. Sethubai Gold Medal and Jayalashamma Najumda cash price. In the year of 2019, she could wing the Innovative Leader Award’ awarded by the Asia’s Education Excellence Awards organized by the CMO Asia and Word Education Congress, at Pan Pacific, Singapore. In the year “Distinguished Researcher of the Year 2021”, awarded by the Women Icon Organization, in association with Times Women, India.etc She has presented more than 14 research paper in International conferences in all over the world including united kingdom, Japan, Germany, Thailand, Greece, India, Malaysia, Indonesia etc Her research interests include Greek and Modern Philosophy, Ancient and contemporary Indian philosophy, Ethical theory, Environmental Ethics. Epistemology and the philosophy of technology.
