Andhe Dharani

Dharani Andhe , born on March 14, 1977, in India, is a distinguished academic and researcher currently serving as the Professor and Director of the Department of MCA at RV College of Engineering, Bengaluru. With over 18 years of dedicated service at RVCE, Dr. Dharani has made significant contributions to the fields of Image Processing, Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), and Database Management Systems (DBMS). Education: Dr. Dharani earned her Ph.D. in January 2010 from Mother Teresa Women’s University, Tamil Nadu. Her thesis focused on the “Investigation of the Efficient Implementation of Image Processing using Digital Halftoning.” She also holds an M.Phil from Manonmanian Sundaranar University (2003) and an MCA from B.M.S. College of Engineering, Bangalore (2000). Professional Experience: Dr. Dharani's career at RV College of Engineering spans from her initial role as a Lecturer in March 2001 to her current position as Professor and Director, which she has held since July 2018. Her academic journey at RVCE includes roles as Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor, showcasing her commitment and progression in the field of computer applications. Research Contributions: Dr. Dharani has served as the Principal Investigator for the project “Power Optimization in Adhoc Sensor Networks” funded by NRB, DRDO, Government of India, which ran from 2011 to 2013 with a grant of Rs. 10.95 lakhs. She is a recognized research guide at VTU and Prist University, having guided two Ph.D. scholars and currently supervising three more. Her research interests primarily include Image Processing, Wireless Sensor Networks, and Database Management Systems. Publications and Citations: Dr. Dharani has published extensively, with three books/book chapters, 26 international journal articles, and presented at 30 international and 20 national conferences. Her work is well-cited, with an h-index of 5, an i10-index of 2, and over 1000 article reads. Awards and Recognition: Dr. Dharani’s exemplary contributions have been recognized through several awards, including the Outstanding Women Achiever Award in 2016 by the Center for Women Empowerment, Venus International Foundation, and the Young Researcher Award in 2015 by ISTE, RVCE Chapter. She has also been honored for Excellence in Education on multiple occasions. Conference Participation and Speaking Engagements: Dr. Dharani has participated in various international and national conferences, including presenting papers at the World Congress in Engineering in London (2011) and the IEEE International Conference in Damascus, Syria (2006). She has also been a resource person and speaker at numerous workshops, FDPs, and seminars on diverse topics ranging from IoT applications to technical paper writing. Professional Memberships: Dr. Dharani is an active member of several professional organizations, including IEEE, CSI, ISTE, IAENG, and IACSIT, where she holds senior and life memberships. University and College-Level Contributions: Her service extends beyond teaching and research, involving roles such as a Local Inspection Committee member for VTU, BoS and BoE member at various institutions, and participating in syllabus revisions and evaluation processes. At the college level, she has contributed to numerous committees, including those for industry-institute partnerships, research coordination, and placement. Sports Achievements: In addition to her academic accomplishments, Dr. Dharani has excelled in sports, winning prizes in events such as Throw Ball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Sack Race, and Shot-put at her college’s annual sports day.
