Abstract
A new application area of Petri net is introduced in this paper. In particular it shows how, by means of Petri net, the protein production process can be modeled and analyzed. In order to develop a Petri net model of the protein production process, firstly the paper describes the protein production process from DNA. Although the aim of this paper is to develop a Petri net model of protein production rather then the molecular events and chemical reactions that occur during this process, some basic information about the molecular events, and precursors/ molecules that are required for each step of the protein production process are described in both part one and part two of this paper, prior to the Petri net model construction.
