Evaluating Students’ Acceptance of the Discussion Forum in the E-Learning Context
Abstract
The use of e-learning initiatives in the academic world has been increasing in last few years. International reports highlighted that the use of information communication technology (ICT) to build human resources through education development, training, and knowledge management is critical for the development of knowledge-based economy. This pilot study evaluated the students’ acceptance of the use of discussion in the e-learning context in an academic institution in Oman based on the technology acceptance model (TAM2). Data was collected through a questionnaire. This study found that perceived usefulness is significantly determined by Job relevance, image, result demonstrability and perceived ease of use but not by subjective norm and output quality. In addition, the use of the discussion forum in the e-learning context is determined by its perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use.
