Abstract

This paper introduces a theoretical exploration of an interdisciplinary field that that integrates principles of ethics, privacy and information. Ethics has already been interwoven with information in the field of information ethics. We show that information ethics does not provide sufficient notions to handle ethical analysis that involves private information. Private information ethics gives moral consideration to the well-being of private information based on moral considerations regarding the welfare of its proprietor (the ‘owner’ of the information)
