Vasiliki Folia
Vasiliki Folia
earned her graduate degree from the Department of Psychology at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and holds a MSc degree in Cognitive Neuroscience from Radboud University, The Netherlands. Her PhD, completed at Karolinska Institutet, Department of Clinical Cognitive Neuroscience, Sweden, focused on Implicit Learning of Artificial Grammars/Syntax via neuroimaging and neurophysiological methods (fMRI, EEG and rTMS). Following her doctoral studies, Dr. Folia taught at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences (AUAS), as an Assistant Pofessor from 2009 to 2012; and as an Associate Professor from 2013 to 2018. She also served as a Research Chair from 2016 to 2018. She joined the Department of Psychology in Aristotle University in 2021. Her primary research interests lie in the field of neuropsychology of language, both in healthy and clinical populations. Specifically, her work revolves around investigating neural language mechanisms, serial language processing, implicit learning and other cognitive functions that contribute to syntactic and linguistic ability. To achieve these objectives, she employs a combination of behavioral/neuropsychological, neurophysiological, and neuroimaging methods.
