Uğur Delen
graduated from Istanbul Okan University (2011-2016) with a bachelor's degree in sociology. He graduated from the master's programme in sociology at Istanbul Okan University (2018-2022) with a master's thesis titled “Intersection and Conflict Areas of the Virtual World with the Physical World”, under the supervision of Prof. Dr. Esra Köten. This thesis explored the new digital cultures produced by virtual spaces as 'constructive structures', analysed with Bourdieu's habitus theory, and the relationships between these cultures and cultural structures in the physical world, using qualitative research techniques. Delen, whose undergraduate and postgraduate education included a mixture of cultural and critical studies, explored the relationship between society and the individual using names such as Bourdieu, Baudrillard, Foucault and Gramsci. After his master's degree, Delen turned to communication studies to study the individual and social effects of the Internet, especially the media and digital games, and in 2024 he joined the Ph.D. programme in communication studies at Marmara University. Delen, who was also very interested in field research during her education, has conducted ethnographic studies on migration, gender, ecology, urban and crime issues in many cities in Turkey. Between 2018 and 2022, Delen was active in the field of civil society and was a founding board member of the Association for Migration, Harmonisation and Communication, and carried out stakeholder projects with institutions such as the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the International Labour Organization (ILO), the European Commission, the Raoul Wallenberg Institute, and the French Embassy in Turkey.
