Tom Kwanya
Tom Kwanya
is a Professor of Information and Knowledge Management and Director of the School of Graduate and Advanced Studies at the Technical University of Kenya. His over 18 years of university teaching and 17 years of industry experience, including international consultancies, enables him to blend academic rigour with practical experience to connect theoretical insights with real-world challenges in knowledge management, responsible AI, digital transformation, big data analytics, and digital inclusion. A prolific researcher and keynote speaker, he has authored over 70 journal articles, 31 book chapters, 88 conference papers and multiple scholarly books. Prof. Kwanya’s work critically explores who controls, protects, and benefits from knowledge in academic, community and digital realms. His insights inspire scholars and students alike to rethink the future of knowledge management and equity in the emerging global knowledge economy. He sits on the National Technical Committee on Knowledge Management, Kenya, and the Information Science Services Technical Committee of the Kenya Bureau of Standards (KEBS).
