Sovannak Ra

Sovannak Ra is a graduate student in Higher Education at Northern Illinois University (NIU) and a Graduate Assistant at the Asian American Resource Center. In his current role, he supports student engagement and community-building initiatives that promote inclusion and cultural awareness among Asian American and international student populations. Originally from abroad, Sovannak brings a global lens to his academic and professional work. He previously earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from NIU in 2024, and his interdisciplinary background informs his approach to leadership, research, and student development. Sovannak is actively engaged in research on international student experiences, cultural identity, and equity in higher education. His work seeks to understand how institutions can create more supportive environments for diverse student communities. Through both scholarship and service, he strives to bridge the gap between research and practice, advocating for educational spaces that empower students from all backgrounds to thrive.
