Shelanda Ferrell Simmons

Shelanda Simmons , Ed.D., is a higher education and workforce development leader with over a decade of experience in Career and Technical Education (CTE), curriculum design, and industry engagement. She holds a Doctorate in Educational Leadership from the University of Memphis, with research focused on nontraditional adult learners in CTE, as well as an MBA and a Bachelor’s in Business Administration from Belhaven College. Dr. Simmons serves as an instructor and program leader at Tennessee College of Applied Technology–Memphis, where she has led initiatives that increased Administrative Office Technology job placement rates from 55% to 98%. A Certified Logistics Instructor, she has expanded training pathways in logistics, business, and administrative technologies. Her prior leadership roles at FedEx Trade Networks and UPS inform her industry-aligned approach to workforce education. Dr. Simmons is the founder of the Memphis Leadership Training Institute, which connects students with mentors, job-readiness training, and professional development. She is a national speaker, an Advanced CTE Fellow, and an American Technical Education Association board member committed to advancing equitable, high-impact workforce education.
