Sevgi Kalkanli
Taş is the Head of the Department of Immunology, where she leads both academic and research initiatives with a focus on advancing the understanding of immune system function in health and disease. She holds a PhD in Immunology and completed her undergraduate education in Veterinary Medicine, providing her with a comprehensive background in health sciences. Prof. Kalkanlı Taş has developed extensive expertise in tumor immunology, with a particular interest in the complex interactions between cancer cells and the immune system. Over the years, she has contributed to numerous projects investigating how immunological pathways can be manipulated to enhance anti-tumor responses, including studies on checkpoint inhibitors, cancer vaccines, and the tumor microenvironment. As a department head, she oversees a multidisciplinary team engaged in both basic and translational immunology research. She is deeply committed to mentoring graduate students and early-career scientists, fostering an environment of scientific curiosity, collaboration, and innovation. Her long-standing dedication to cancer research and immune system science positions her as a leading figure in the field, with ongoing contributions aimed at improving therapeutic outcomes and understanding disease mechanisms at the molecular and cellular levels.
