Selina Banda

Selina Banda is a nutritionist and lecturer in Hospitality and Tourism Management. She is in the Department of Social Studies under the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at the Copperbelt University in Kitwe, Zambia. Likewise, she has worked three years, during which period Selina acted as head of department for two years. Before that, she also worked for than 10 years as an educationist and researcher at Zambian Open University. During her working period, she also acted in different positions at supervisory levels. She has a background in primary education, which provided her an opportunity to serve as a teacher in various government schools in Lusaka. Selina worked as a teacher for 19 years. Her interest in primary school has resulted in conducting some research studies among children at different age levels. Because of her background in education and nutrition, Selina has been involved in related research activities. Selina has published some research papers in education and nutrition. She has also taught at secondary school level. Currently, she is involved in lecturing and supervising university students at under and post graduate levels, where she is engaged on full-time and part-time basis. Adult education, is another area of interest in which she has immerse, specifically, in alleviating illiteracy among adults in communities. Additionally, Selina is passionate with theatre for development which grounded in community mobilization. This combination of nutrition and education has awakened in her a passion to be involved in community nutrition, which caters for a wide range of people. Selina is currently a doctoral student in food and nutrition at the University of Zambia - Zimbabwe Open University.
