Rakesh Kumar Jain

Rakesh Kumar Jain
received his B.E. and M.E. in Civil Engineering from R.D. University, Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, and the University of Pune, Maharashtra. He earned his Ph.D. in Engineering from Rajiv Gandhi Technical University, Bhopal. He served as the Principal of Dr. D.Y. Patil Institute of Technology, Pune, India, and as the Director of Rajarshi Shahu College of Engineering, Pune, India, before joining Ajeenkya D.Y. Patil University as Vice-Chancellor. He has been associated with the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) and the National Accreditation and Assessment Council (NAAC) for several years. He received the title of “Margdarshak” (Mentor) from the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) for guiding institutions through the NBA accreditation process. He was also appointed as an “Ambassador” for mentoring five institutions for NAAC accreditation under the “Paramarsha” (Advisor) scheme sanctioned by the University Grants Commission of India (UGC). Additionally, he was appointed as a “Mentor” by the Directorate of Technical Education, Mumbai, India, to guide institutions for NAAC/NBA accreditation. He has received several prestigious awards, including the Hon. Balasaheb Wagh Memorial “Best Institute Award” by the Association of Management of Unaided Colleges (Maharashtra), the “Best Principal” and “Best College Award” by the Indian Society of Technical Education, New Delhi, the “Best Principal Award” by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune, and the “Best Affiliated College Award” by Savitribai Phule Pune University, Pune. Additionally, he was honored with the “Best Teacher and Certificate of Excellence for Leadership” in September 2014 by Dr. D.Y. Patil Vidya Pratishthan Society, Pune, and the Visvesvaraya Construction Excellence Award by Construction & Business Record, Mumbai, India. He has published books with reputed national and international publishers, including Routledge (Taylor & Francis Group, USA) and CRC Press, Boca Raton, USA. He has published or presented more than 144 technical papers on topics related to Geotechnical Engineering and Transportation Engineering in international and national journals, seminars, and conferences. Three of his papers were adjudged as “Best Paper”. He holds several patents and has guided numerous doctoral students. He is a member of various professional bodies, including the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Institution of Engineers (India), and the Indian Society for Technical Education, among others. He was nominated by the Chancellor (Governor of Maharashtra) as a Member of the Academic Council of SPPU, Pune. He has served as a Member of the Board of Studies (BOS) in Civil Engineering under the Faculty of Engineering (FOE), Chairman of BOS in Civil Engineering under FOE, and a Member of the Research & Recognition Committee. Additionally, he has been an Academic Council Member of JSPM University, Pune; Sanjivani College of Engineering, Kopargaon; M.M. College of Engineering, Pune; Sri Venkateswara COE, Tirupati; Shri Ramswaroop University, Lucknow; and the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) Western Region Committee on Education, Planning & Monitoring Board. He was also part of the Organizing Committee for the Indo-US Conclave and the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) of Dr. D.Y. Patil University, Pimpri, Pune. He has visited numerous countries as a delegate, conference participant, and researcher. He has also organized several Faculty Development Programs (FDPs), Short-Term Training Programs (STTPs), Summer and Winter Schools, seminars, and conferences.
