Rajat Mishra
Dr.
Rajat Mishra
is an agricultural engineer and researcher specializing in soil and water conservation engineering, watershed hydrology, and climate change adaptation. He is currently serving as a Teaching Associate in the Department of Soil Conservation and Water Management at Chandra Shekhar Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Born and raised in Uttar Pradesh, Dr. Mishra pursued his passion for agricultural sciences through a strong academic journey. He earned his B.Tech in Agricultural Engineering from Mahatma Gandhi Chitrakoot Gramoday Vishwavidyalaya, Satna (2016), followed by an M.Tech in Agricultural Engineering (Soil and Water Conservation Engineering) from SHUATS, Prayagraj (2018). He further advanced his expertise by completing his Ph.D. in Soil and Water Conservation Engineering at G.B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, in 2024, with a thesis focused on Runoff-Sediment-Nutrient Dynamics in the Gadarwara Watershed under Climate Change Scenarios and Best Management Practices. Throughout his career, Dr. Mishra has worked with esteemed institutions such as the Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana, the National Institute of Hydrology, Roorkee, and the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, contributing to multiple national-level projects on watershed management, hydrology, and climate resilience in agriculture. He has authored numerous research papers, articles, and book chapters in reputed journals and publications, with key contributions in areas such as irrigation scheduling, evapotranspiration modeling, drought quantification, and sustainable crop management. His work has been recognized with Best Paper Awards (2021, 2023), as well as the Best Working Model Award (2023) in innovative digital agriculture. Beyond research, Dr. Mishra has participated in specialized workshops and trainings across India, gaining expertise in remote sensing, GIS, hydrological modeling, and machine learning applications in agricultural water management. He is proficient in multiple technical tools, including ArcGIS, QGIS, SWAT, HEC-RAS, SPHY, and CROPWAT, and is expanding his skills in Python, R, and Google Earth Engine. A recipient of the ICAR-SRF fellowship (AIR-23, 2018), Dr. Mishra continues to focus on advancing sustainable agricultural practices, with particular interest in climate-smart farming, irrigation efficiency, and watershed-scale conservation strategies. Through his academic, professional, and research contributions, Dr. Rajat Mishra is making a significant impact in the field of agricultural engineering, working toward a future where water and soil resources are managed sustainably for food security and environmental resilience.
