Phuong Hoa Mai Nguyen
Phuong Hoa Mai Nguyen
is Head of English Language Skills and Linguistics Department at Van Lang University, Ho chi Minh city. She has over 20 years of experience teaching English to all ages and levels of students. She was a full-time lecturer at University of Sciences, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and International University (Vietnam National University), teaching English language skills, British and American cultures, English Literature, and Research Methods. She is currently a full-time lecturer teaching Contrastive Linguistics and Discourse Analysis for Master (English) program at Van Lang University. Her doctoral thesis is about conversational strategies used in William Somerset Maugham’s short stories. She has published 14 research articles and a book chapter in TESOL in both local and international journals. Dr Nguyen has played an active role in organizing AsiaCALL Conference at Van Lang University. Dr Nguyen has also served as a reviewer and a committee member of M.A. thesis defenses in Thu Dau Mot University, and Van Lang University. She also serves as a reviewer for AsiaCALL Conference Proceedings (2020) and VLTESOL Conference Proceedings (2022, 2024). Her current research interests are Literary Analysis, Translation Studies, TESOL, and Academic Writing.
