Omar J. Alkhatib
Omar Alkhatib
has conducted research in a variety of fields, including structural mechanics, structural engineering, and advancing engineering pedagogical and instructional approaches. The current research in structural engineering focuses on a comparison between destructive and non-destructive testing of concrete properties. The evaluation of materials' thermal resistance to heat transfer, thermal conductivity, thermal resistance, strength, fracture toughness, and wear resistance is another area of research interest. The current areas of his research in engineering instruction would include the development of higher thinking skills (e.g., problem-solving, critical thinking, creative thinking, and decision-making) and STEM education. A further aspect of pedagogical research is the evaluation of students' performance during the sudden shift to online learning during COVID-19.
