Nancy Ann Watanabe

Nancy Ann Watanabe (Phi Beta Kappa (Junior-Year Honors), B.A., French; magna cum laude, B.A., English Literature, M.A. Comparative Literature, University of Washington; Ph.D., Comparative Literature, Indiana University-Bloomington) is Professor of Comparative Literature at the University of Oklahoma; concurrently, Pacific Rim Research Professor of Literature, Science, and Film at the University of Washington. Her books include Beloved Image: The Drama of W.B. Yeats, 1865-1939; Love Eclipsed: Joyce Carol Oates's Faustian Moral Vision; and African Heartbeat: Transatlantic Literary and Cultural Dynamics. She has contributed twenty-six articles in academic journals and chapters in scholarly books. Her academic honors include scholarly and faculty fellowship awards from Fulbright (U.S. Department of State), John H. Edwards Foundation IU Dissertation, Ford Foundation University of Washington Presidents' Summer Research, IU Summer School of Letters, Mortar Board Foundation, Alcoa Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Humanities (4). Memberships include the International Comparative Literature Association, the Modern Language Association, Poe Studies Association, T.S. Eliot Society, ResearchGate, LinkedIn, and Google Scholars.
