Ömer Faruk Pamak

Dr. Ömer Faruk Pamak received his B.A. degree in Architecture from Yıldız Technical University in 2012. He subsequently pursued graduate studies at the University of Edinburgh, where he obtained an M.Sc. degree in Architectural History and Theory in 2017, completing a thesis on the challenges of nineteenth-century Ottoman architectural historiography. Between 2018 and 2024, he conducted his doctoral research at the University of Kent, Canterbury, in the Ph.D. Program in Architecture with a specialization in Digital Reconstruction. His dissertation, entitled In Search of a Lost Ottoman Space: Gedik Ahmed Paşazade Mehmed Bey Complex in Serres, Greece, reconstructed the architectural features and spatial organization of a vanished Ottoman külliye through the combined use of archival documentation, early photography, and digital modeling methods. He is currently employed at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Department of Architecture. His primary research interests lie in Ottoman architecture, the cultural and social history of architectural environments, and the digital documentation and reconstruction of heritage sites. He has developed expertise in 3D modeling, photogrammetry, and the use of digital tools for heritage conservation and spatial analysis. His recent work emphasizes the role of artificial intelligence in cultural heritage studies, exploring its potential to revive lost architectural environments and inform sustainable strategies for their preservation.
