Mee-Ryoung Shon

Mee-Ryoung Shon joined the College of Education faculty at Morehead State University since 2001 where she teaches courses in early childhood education as well as theoretical foundations in early elementary curriculum. Reflecting her work experience to teach in a variety of practice-based early childhood settings both in South Korea and Texas A&M University Lab school, she continues her research interests in multicultural education, best practices for young children, curriculum transition from preschool to early elementary, and cultural integration in classroom instruction with particular emphasis on bridging research to practice barriers in the care and education of young children. Dr. Shon believes in the importance of teacher candidates’ engagement in current issues in the early childhood education field so that teacher candidates will prepare themselves with skills and pedagogy of research supported information and advocacy. She has been the program coordinator for 5 years and teaches Preschool programming, Infant/Toddler curriculum programming, Kindergarten curriculum, Child Development, Language & Literacy development, and Theories and Practices in Early Elementary, Current Issues & Practices in MAT (Master of Arts in Teaching) Early Childhood Education Program.
