Maritza Lozano
Maritza Lozano
is a Xicana educator committed to the improvement of learning experiences for ethnically, culturally, and linguistically marginalized youth and families. A daughter of immigrants, she was a first-generation student and later bilingual elementary school teacher, instructional literacy coach, and content expert within the Los Angeles Unified School District. Her work, deeply interwoven with her lived experiences, brings together learning and participatory design perspectives to examine the inherently systemic nature of educational injustice, and the use of Improvement Science methodology to transform educational systems. She has worked with public school communities across the United States for 25+ years.
