Lacey Wood
Professional Bio: Lacey K. H. Wood, MA, is a Teacher of the Deaf who specializes in Family-Centered Early Education for deaf and hard of hearing children (DHH) ages birth to five. She has an additional endorsement in Early Childhood Special Education as well as a graduate certificate in Deaf and Hard of Hearing Infants, Toddlers, and Families from Gallaudet University. She recently finished a certification in Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health, as well. Lacey has experience teaching DHH, Deaf Plus, and Deafblind preschoolers and providing Early Intervention services to DHH children and families with an array of unique needs. Her current roles include providing contract Teacher of the Deaf services, accompanying families of DHH children through Alabama Hands & Voices Advocacy, Support, and Training initiative, collaborating with professionals across the state to improve Early Intervention services for DHH children and families, and coaching professionals who support DHH children in school settings. She is also engaged in Listening and Spoken Language Mentorship. Lacey has been married to her Deaf husband for 23 years, and they are raising two hearing daughters in their ASL-English bilingual family. She has a passion for guiding DHH children and their families in forming healthy early relationships that lead to thriving language and social-emotional development.
