Kevin Huang
Kevin Huang
(he/him), a first-generation Asian American and son of immigrants, entered higher education after navigating a complex background shaped by his upbringing in Columbus, Ohio. The challenges of being one of the few Asian Americans in the Midwest education landscape exposed him to discrimination and stereotypes. His transformative experience occurred upon enrolling at The Ohio State University, where he finally found a sense of belonging and support. His involvement in the Multicultural Center, where he facilitated discussions on the Asian American experience and collaborated with minoritized student organizations, influenced his pivot towards Higher Education and Student Affairs, ultimately taking Kevin to attend Bowling Green State University for graduate school. Gaining a mix of professional experiences in different functional areas such as residential life, multicultural services, career services, and academic affairs now informs his commitment to creating inclusive spaces for students.
