Katrina Broughman
Katrina Broughman
(pronounced “Bruff-man”) is a native of rural Rockbridge County, Virginia. A creative intellectual raised on arts, theater, dance, and music, Katrina actively uses her eclectic talents to advocate for hope with persistent compassion as a changemaker. Professionally trained as an educator, musician, and sociologist, her interests include youth leadership, community development, social justice, global issues, advocacy, the arts, environmental conservation, and empowering marginalized voices. Katrina taught English in Peace Corps Moldova (2015-2017) and wrote grants to develop successful youth-led programs. Katrina received a B.A. ‘13 is from Mary Baldwin College (MBU) in English and Sociology (minors in Education plus Peacemaking and Conflict Resolution) with emphasis on the environment. She received her Masters in Education (Environment-Based Learning) from MBU with additional M.A. Sociology coursework at Morehead State University (KY) in 2021. She has been certified in secondary English language arts since 2014 and as Central Blue Ridge VA Master Naturalist since 2018. Katrina aspires to begin a Ph.D program for sociology and nature-based learning in 2025 or 2026.
