Kathie A. Miller
Kathie Miller
began her career in social work at Avila College in Kansas City, Missouri. After receiving her BSW in 1979, she worked in child protective services in a rural Indiana county for six years. Miller later moved to southern Illinois and practiced social work in a rural hospital setting, focusing on inpatient mental health services. Miller received her MSW degree from The University of Illinois – Urbana/Champaign. MIller worked in medical social work for a two-year period. Then, from 1994 until 2007, Miller was employed as the executive director of a not-for-profit agency focused on providing services for survivors of family violence in a rural, six-county area. Since 2007, Miller has been a full-time instructor in the Social Work Department at Southeast Missouri State University, and in 2018, she became the Program Director. Miller has been a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in Missouri since 1992 and has served on the State Committee for Social Workers since 2006.
