Gupinath Bhandari
Dr.
Gupinath Bhandari
has completed his Bachelor of Engineering in Civil Engineering from Bengal Engineering College, Shibpur, Howrah, India in 1990 and Masters of Civil Engineering in Geotechnical Engineering and PhD in Coastal Engineering, from Jadavpur University, India, in 1992 and 2003 respectively with few years’ industrial experience. He has joined as Faculty Member of School of Oceanographic Studies, Jadavpur University in 2000. Presently he is Associate Professor, Department of Civil Engineering, Jadavpur University. One of the major achievements of Dr. Bhandari, is that his PhD output has been implemented at Field to Protect Digha Coast, a Sea Resort. Dr. Bhandari works extensively on Disaster Management for a long time and supervised seven PhD Thesis works, so far and lot of students are working with him, on Disaster Management aspects. He addresses mainly socio-physical aspects in Disasters. With the initiative of Dr. Bhandari, Jadavpur University has established the Centre for Disaster Preparedness & Management (CDPM).
