G. R. Manjunathareddy
Dr.
Manjunatha Reddy G. R.
is an accomplished botanist, academic leader, and researcher with over two decades of experience in teaching, research, and institutional development. He earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Botany from Bangalore University and an M.Phil. in Biotechnology from Bharathidasan University, Tamil Nadu. His doctoral research focused on in vitro regeneration and the influence of Arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi on micropropagated Withania somnifera (Indian ginseng), reflecting his expertise in plant biotechnology, mycorrhizal biology, and conservation science. Dr. Reddy began his academic career in 2004 as a Lecturer at AMC American College, Bangalore, and subsequently served in teaching and research roles at SRN Adarsh College, Bangalore University, and Dayanand Sagar institutions. His leadership journey includes serving as Principal at Anjanadri PU College (2014–2017) and Rathnagiri PU College under the RVS Group of Institutions (2017–2024). Currently, he serves as a Guest Faculty in the Department of Botany at Bangalore University, while also undertaking visiting faculty assignments for interdisciplinary programs. As a researcher, Dr. Reddy has published extensively in peer-reviewed international journals and authored multiple book chapters with leading publishers, including Springer, IGI Global, CRC Press, Cambridge Scholars, Apple Academic Press, and Integrated Publications (indexed in Scopus & WoS). His work spans plant–microbe interactions, plant breeding, omics technologies, nanotechnology in food sciences, and the application of artificial intelligence for biodiversity conservation and sustainability. He also contributes as a reviewer for IGI Global and regularly presents his research at national and international scientific conferences, workshops, and symposia. In recognition of his commitment to teaching and mentoring, Dr. Reddy received the Star Teacher Award (2012). He also serves as a Scientist Mentor with Planting Science (USA), a program sponsored by the Botanical Society of America and the National Science Foundation, where he guides school and undergraduate students in plant biology research. Beyond research and teaching, Dr. Reddy has been actively involved in institution-building, academic quality assurance (NAAC, IQAC), curriculum design, and organizing scientific seminars and outreach activities. He has also contributed to biodiversity awareness and conservation initiatives, including seed ball distribution and public science engagement programs. Dr. Reddy’s career reflects a deep commitment to advancing plant sciences, environmental sustainability, and innovative pedagogy. His vision is to integrate modern technologies such as AI, omics, and remote sensing with traditional plant biology to address pressing challenges in agriculture, biodiversity conservation, and climate change resilience, while continuing to inspire the next generation of scientists and students.
