Eleni Baldimtsi

Eleni Baldimtsi completed her in BA Psychology, Philosophy, Education and Psychology (Major: Psychology) at the Department of Philosophy, Pedagogy, and Psychology, School of Philosophy, University of Athens, Greece. She completed her PhD in Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, in the School of English (Department of Theoretical and Applied Linguistics). At 2019, she started her postdoctoral research at the Department of Neurology (School of Medicine) at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Her work has focused on language abilities, executive functions and social cognition in children, adolescents and adults with ASD, dementia and Down Syndrome. From 2017 to 2022 she was an adjunct lecturer in the Department of Special Education at the University of Thessaly where she taught about neurodevelopmental disorders. Since 2021, she has been teaching in the Interdepartmental Program Neurosciences and Neurodegenerative Diseases of the School of Medicine at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as well as at the School of Pedagogical and Technological Education (ASPETE). Over the years, she has received several academic awards and scholarships in recognition of her research contributions (Paula Menyuk Travel Award Boston University, USA; Travel Award from the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI), USA). She has extensive hands-on experience having worked for the last fifteen years with children and adolescents with neurodevelopmental disorders in mainstream state schools and schools for children with special needs. As of 2025, she serves as a Consultant A in Special and Inclusive Education at the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP), the executive, scientific, and research body supporting the Greek Ministry of Education, Religious Affairs, and Sports. Dr. Baldimtsi is the author of a book chapter and has published in peer-reviewed international journals and conference proceedings, with notable works on the language and cognitive abilities of children with autism, individuals with neurodegenerative disorders, and Down syndrome. She has more than 220 citations (h-index 7, i10-index 6, according to google scholar). She serves as invited reviewer in highly reputed journals and she has participated in a number of research projects (like Horizon21, Research – Create – Innovate) as well as national and international conferences. Her research and clinical interests focus on linguistic and cognitive abilities of individuals with autism spectrum disorders (ASD), with dementia and intellectual disability (Down Syndrome).
