David R. Meek
David Meek
is a Deaf Education professional with over 20 years of experience in K-12 and higher education settings, specializing in special education and research on deaf learners with multiple disabilities. He holds an Ed.D. in Deaf Studies and Deaf Education from Lamar University, an M.A. in Special Education: Mild Intervention, and a B.S. in Deaf Education from Ball State University. With extensive experience working with students across various disability categories, his research focuses on the lived experiences of the Deaf community. His doctoral research explored dinner table conversations among Deaf individuals, specifically examining dinner table syndrome - the phenomenon where deaf family members are often excluded from family conversations and social interactions at mealtimes. This work reflects his commitment to understanding and addressing the challenges faced by the Deaf community.
