Crystal Giddings

Dr. Crystal M. Giddings serves as Program Director of School Counseling, and has served as the Department Chair, and is an Associate Professor. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education from Morris Brown College; Master of Arts and Educational Specialist degrees in School Counseling from Georgia State University; and a doctorate in Counseling and Psychological Services from Clark Atlanta University. An elementary school teacher for 12 years and then a school counselor for 26 years, she left her mark in both the Atlanta Public Schools and the Cobb County School District. Her accolades include author of two books, co-author of four book chapters, Georgia School Counselor State Writer of the Year, National Certified School Counselor, Licensed Professional Counselor, lifetime member of the National Association of Educators and recipient of their Human Relations’ Award; member and advisor of Chi Sigma Iota Counseling Academic & Professional Honor Society International. Her research focuses on social justice and inequity, wellness, and advocacy for the counseling profession.
