Carine Marette
Carine Marette
is a researcher and entrepreneur at the intersection of technology and education. She is currently a doctoral candidate at Indiana University, focusing on the role of AI and peer learning in shaping the future of higher education assessment. With a background spanning Information Technology (MSc, ESGI) and Mechanical Engineering, along with degrees in Psychology and Sociology (Laurentian University), Marette’s interdisciplinary expertise informs her work in educational technology. She co-founded Kritik.io in 2019, a peer-to-peer learning platform designed to enhance student engagement, critical thinking, and collaboration through AI-powered assessment. Kritik is widely adopted in higher education institutions, offering innovative features such as team-based learning, evaluator scoring, calibration activities, and AI-driven analytics to improve assessment accuracy and student outcomes. Marette also leads the development of VisibleAI, a research-driven tool that helps educators establish and refine their GenAI policies at the assignment level. VisibleAI provides transparency into how students use AI tools, enabling instructors to guide responsible and effective AI usage in the classroom. Her research and entrepreneurial work aim to bridge the gap between AI, peer learning, and scalable assessment strategies, fostering a more transparent and equitable educational landscape.
