Ayshan Mammadzada

Ayshan Mammadzada is a social and human geographer specialising in skilled migration, geographical mobility, environmental migration, data science, and policy research, with expertise spanning Azerbaijan, Canada, the USA, the UK, China, Turkey, Japan, and Georgia. She is pursuing a PhD in Geography with a focus on Canadian Studies at the University of Ottawa, where she also serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant. Ayshan holds the position of Research Assistant with the DEMA-CERC in Migration and Integration at the University of Toronto and is the Policy & Research Lead at the Ottawa Local Immigration Partnership. Additionally, she volunteers as Director of Ottawa Neighbourhood Scientific Research Solutions (ONS-SQO) and is a Research Associate with The Observatory for Migrant Justice in Montreal. Ayshan’s credentials include a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification, a Salesforce certification, and a data science credential from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Fluent in Azerbaijani and English, she is proficient in Turkish and has a working knowledge of Russian and French. Dedicated to supporting women aged 25 and over who face language, gender, education, and other barriers, she develops career and educational pathways for their professional growth. An active researcher and contributor, Ayshan has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and is preparing additional working papers. She recently organised workshops for prominent conferences like Pathways to Prosperity (P2P) and Metropolis, received research and poster awards, presented at the Populism and Nationalism Workshop at the University of Oxford, and contributed to the IAFOR conference in Japan. Seasonally, Ayshan provides seminar series and training at institutions such as Koç University and ICMPD. Her work underscores her commitment to migration research and policy, enhancing social and environmental resilience across diverse global contexts.
