Astrid Giraldo Betancur
Astrid L. Giraldo
is Physical Engineer and Master in Science-Physics graduated from the Universidad Nacional de Colombia, campus Manizales. Doctor in Science- Materials science graduated from Cinvestav Campus Querétaro. Currently, she works as CONACYT commissioned to the Cinvestav unit Querétaro. Co-founder of the Mexican Laboratory of Thermal Spray - CENAPROT. Her research area is focused on multifunctional materials; especially in bioceramics: synthesis of raw material such hydroxyapatite from natural sources and bioglasses, hydroxyapatite-based composite materials to coating manufacture using different thermal spray technologies and their characterization. Additionally, she is working on the microencapsulation processes development for controlled drug release.
