Ali M. Ali
Ali
is working as Associate Professor of Soil Fertility and Plant Nutrition at the Desert Research Center, Egypt. He earned B.Sc. (2003) and M.Sc. (2009) from Faculty of Agriculture, Zagazig University and Ph.D. (2014) from Punjab Agricultural University, India within the cultural exchange program (Egypt/India). His research interests are increasing fertilizer use efficiency using new emerging technologies, evaluation of plant nutritional constraints for optimizing yield and nutritional balance, evaluation and mapping of soil constraints, and precision agriculture. He was chosen to participate in the Advanced Presidential Leadership Program (Advanced PLP 2017-2018) organized by the Presidency of Egypt. He granted a fund from the STDF for the purpose of a research project to optimize nitrogen fertilization for wheat in newly reclaimed lands (2018-2020). Dr Ali was selected to be a member in the Monitoring and Evaluation Committee of the Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (Decree 902/year 2018). Dr Ali is a member in the National Committee of Soil Science, Academy of Scientific Research and Technology (14 members across the Country). Among several international scientists, Dr Ali participated in preparation of the IPCC report on the impact of climate change on desertification in 2019. Dr Ali has worked as a consultant for the activities: natural resources management in Kharga Oasis and preparing the plans of the Farmer Field Schools of the FAO project “sustainable management of Kharga Oasis agro-ecosystems in the New Valley Governorate” through the Desert Research Center in 2020-2022. He has also been chosen to be the FAO Capacity Development Planning National Consultant in 2021. In 2022, Dr Ali has been appointed Head of the Desert Research Center's Climate Change Adaptation Unit. He has also been selected to the National Science and Technology Committee dealing with the United Nations' Desertification Convention.
