Abdullahi Babatunde Asiru
Abdullahi Babatunde Asiru
is a professional educator specializing in the education of children with special needs, with a particular focus on gifted education. With a background in English studies, he chose to pursue Special Education as his field of expertise, inspired by the exceptional abilities of gifted and talented learners. His research interests encompass Gifted Education, Creativity, Creative Learning, Inclusive Education, English Language Teaching and Learning, Instructional Media, and Creative Teaching. Asiru has published chapters and articles in peer-reviewed national and international journals, and has also contributed to reputable magazine outlets. A strong advocate of inclusive education in Nigeria, he actively participates in platforms that promote the inclusion of gifted and talented students. He has attended and presented at several local and international conferences and workshops, while also holding relevant professional certifications. Asiru is a Fellow (2021) of the Ife Institute of Advanced Studies, Obafemi Awolowo University, Osun State, and currently serves as Secretary, Training and Conference Committee of the Network for Educational Advancement and Development, University of Eswatini, where he contributes to research development and publishing activities. He is also a Charter Member of the Association of Cybersecurity Practitioners. He was recognized as the Best Overall Participant (with Distinction Plus Grade) in Writing Grant-Winning Proposals and Fundraising at the Virtual Institute for Capacity Building in Higher Education (VICBHE) (August–October 2024), directed by Emeritus Professor Peter Akinlosa Okebukola. Currently, Asiru is at the concluding stage of his PhD programme in Special Education at the University of Ibadan, with research focused on English creative writing performance among adolescents with underachieving high ability. His doctoral study is supported by the Federal Government of Nigeria Scholarship Award (Ref. FSB/EB2024/4637). Beyond academia, Asiru is deeply committed to youth empowerment. He is the Set Man of Youth Transformation Missions International, Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, where he continues to channel his passion for developing young people.
