Hamid Turab

Hamid Turab Mirza earned his PhD in Computer Science from Zhejiang University, China in 2012 and his MSc in Information Systems with a Distinction from The University of Sheffield, UK in 2005. Overall Dr. Turab has more than 20 years of research, teaching and software development experience in corporate and academic sectors of both Pakistan and UK. Currently he is serving as a Tenured Associate Professor and is In-Charge of the Computer Science Program at the Department of Computer Science, COMSATS University Islamabad, Lahore Campus. He has continously been a recipient of Research Productivity Awards and Honorarium's for his performance in research, teaching and other departmental responsibilities. Previously he has served in the capacity of Assistant Professor at National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST) for six years. Moreover, he has five years of hand-on software development experience in large organizations including Pakistan Aeronautical Complex, Leeds Metropolitan University UK and British Telecommunication (BT) UK. Dr. Turab's research interest lies within the areas of Data Mining and Context-Aware Computing. He has established and led Knowledge Discovery & Data Mining (KDDM) Research Group at COMSATS Lahore campus since 2012 and has been actively publishing research findings at prestigious impact factor journals (DKE, KAIS, IJGIS, IJHCI) and top ranked international conferences (CIKM, WWW, AAAI) with 800 plus citations so far. His co-authored work on Spatio-temporal data mining was selected as “Best Paper” of Data & Knowledge Engineering Journal for year 2015. Up till now a total of 68 alumni of KDDM research group have successfully completed their degrees by conducting their research under supervision of Dr. Turab. Among them are 2 PhD's, 16 MS and 50 BS Final Year Project students; currently 6 PhD students are pursuing their research with him.
